Science

At Ernesettle Community School, we aim to deliver an ambitious, exciting science curriculum for all children which promotes a true love of the subject. A high-quality science education provides the foundations for understanding the world. Children develop a curiosity for scientific exploration, so that by the time children leave in Year 6, they can work independently and collaboratively. Through building key foundational knowledge and concepts, pupils are encouraged to recognise the power of rational explanation and develop a sense of excitement and curiosity about natural and man-made phenomena. They are encouraged to understand how key knowledge and concepts can be used to explain what is occurring, predict how things will behave, and analyse causes.

In addition, inspiring science weeks and themed days nurture our children’s love of science and expose them to a wider range of experiences. This ranges from Science Day, STEM Club, Partnership with Kawasaki, SailGP, The Cardboard Boat Race and more!

To draw on a quote, in this case from Katherine Johnson, ‘once you take the first step in science, anything is possible’.
