The Local Governing Body

Carol Wood

Carol is a retired Assistant Headteacher of Mill Ford Special School and Chair of The Inspire Multi Academy Trust. She has a wealth of experience in school leadership and great teaching and learning. Carol has been the Chair of Governors at Ernesettle Community School for the last ten years and was named the city’s ‘Chair of the Year in 2013’. Paul Chapman

Paul, owner and Director of Whitesails Associates, is an experienced Management Accountant and is an Associate Member of CIMA. Paul is also a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management and has been the Vice Chair of Governors at Ernesettle Community School for the last eight years.

Aaron Meredith

Aaron, Executive Headteacher of Ernesettle Community School and CEO of The Inspire Multi Academy Trust (South West), was appointed when Ernesettle Community School was deemed to be requiring special measures in May 2010. Within 18 months, the school was graded as ‘Good with Outstanding features’ by Ofsted. In April 2013, Aaron was seconded to part time for two years to open Devon’s first primary free school, Marine Academy Primary; the academy became the south west’s first ‘Outstanding’ free school in June 2015. In February 2018, Aaron was designated as a National Leader in Education (NLE).

Paddy Kumar

Appointed by the school in September 2016, having previously taught in Shropshire, Assistant Headteacher Paddy, has over 8 years teaching experience in Key Stage 2. In 2020, he was accredited as a Specialist Leader in Education (SLE) in Physical Education and has used his knowledge and understanding of the subject to support schools across Plymouth and Devon. Paddy has successfully completed the National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership (NPQSL) and is the school’s Assessment Lead.

Emma Lenszner

Emma, Senior Assistant Headteacher, was appointed by the school in 2016. Emma began her career as an Early Years teacher and quickly demonstrated her passion and enthusiasm across the Key Stages. With over 6 years of teaching experience, Emma went on to successfully complete her National Professional Qualification in Senior Leadership (NPQSL) which combined her knowledge of the Early Years with her English subject leadership responsibility, to continue to develop and improve Early Reading within the school, before later becoming a Senior Leader in Education with a specialism in Phonics and Early Reading.

Sandi Wood

Sandi, a parent governor, represents and is a valued member of the local community. Sandi brings media and ICT expertise to the trust and has been heavily involved in community and in-school events, she has been a governor at Ernesettle Community School since 2016.

Liz Hoodless

Liz, the Educational Support Staff and Operations Manager at Ernesettle Community School, has over 20 years’ experience in governance. She also has extensive knowledge of both the school and wider community. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, Liz is fully committed to managing a team of hard-working and supportive TLAs, overseeing whole school initiatives and ensuring that pupil standards and pupil welfare are protected and promoted. Liz is passionate about supporting the school to provide an outstanding education so that the pupils can make informed decisions about their futures.

Michelle Treliving

Michelle joined the board as a Parent Governor in January 2019. Having been a parent at the school for 12 years, she is a firm believer in the school’s ethos and is a valued member of the local community. Michelle finds working alongside the teachers, to ensure children are learning to the best of their abilities, very rewarding. Michelle is also an active member of the school PTA, through which she has built strong relationships between teachers, families and the school.

Reverend Adam Price

Reverend Adam’s passion lies in helping people to flourish in all areas of their life; enabling them to grow and develop, establish and sustain relationships which build joyful communities where everyone cares for their neighbours. Reverend Adam believes that education plays a fundamental role in encouraging pupils to lift their horizons and expectations, and ultimately to transform lives. In his role as a Local Governor, Reverend Adam helps to promote and foster the qualities of purpose and hope in the pupils during their time at ECS and beyond.

Richard Lunn

Richard has a passion and interest in providing the best for young people, which he has done through various jobs and voluntary positions throughout his career. Richard is also a parent at Ernesettle Community school, wishing to provide a good role model for his daughter, take an active interest in the school and help shape the path for the children’s futures.

Paula Frankis

Paula is a Senior Health Care Assistant at a local residential home. She has been a governor at Ernesettle Community School since 2011. Paula’s role on the Local Governing Body is to rigorously monitor Safeguarding and Health & Safety. Paula’s daughter started her educational journey at the school in the Early Years Foundation Stage and Paula still has strong links within the local community. Paula is proud to be part of the school community and able to provide support and challenge in her role on the governing board.

Angela Treseder

Angela is the Clerk to governors for the Inspire Multi Academy Trust and is the Administrator at Tor Bridge Primary School. Angela joined the Trust in September 2019 and although new to working in Education, she has over 25 years experience in Administration. Angela is enjoying the new opportunities experienced so far and is looking forward to providing commitment to the Trust’s continued development and growth.

Human Resources Manager – Sonia Oates

Sonia, the Trust’s trust’s HR Manager, is a former HR advisor to the local City Council and has been involved with multiple academy conversions and associated TUPE processes. Sonia has been working across multi academy trusts since 2010.

Company Secretary – Anita Martin

Anita, Director of Corporate Services at Inspiring Schools Partnership Multi Academy Trust, is an experienced academy accountant. Anita has been the Company Secretary for The Inspire Multi Academy Trust (South West) since 2016.
