Nursery & Pre School Information
Welcome to the Nursery and Pre-School at Ernesettle Community School
Our newly refurbished Early Years environments have been thoughtfully designed using best practice research to create calm, neutral spaces where young children can thrive.
As part of our vibrant school community, children benefit from access to exceptional facilities, including a 3G pitch, wild meadow, outdoor classroom, and a rich variety of resources that support play-based learning.
With seamless integration into whole school life, children enjoy a smooth transition into Reception and beyond. Led by experienced staff and qualified teachers, our setting nurtures each child’s curiosity, confidence and independence—ensuring they are not only school ready, but excited about learning.

Key Workers
At our Nursery and Pre School, every child is assigned a key worker who takes special responsibility for getting to know them as an individual. This means your child has a familiar adult who understands their likes, dislikes, routines, and any important needs such as allergies. The key worker builds a close relationship with your child, supporting their learning, development, and wellbeing while keeping you updated and involved along the way.
Booking Sessions
We are delighted to offer a wide range of flexible session options to suit the needs of our families. Children can attend up to 5 mornings, 5 afternoons, or 2½ days, with the option to extend care through our Breakfast Club (from 7.30am) and After School Club (until 6.00pm).
Families entitled to government funding can access 15 hours free childcare, with some eligible for up to 30 hours free childcare. Additional sessions, lunch clubs and wraparound care are available at affordable rates.
Nursery and Pre-school Sessions are split into:
Morning Session: 8.30am – 11.30am
Afternoon Session: 12.15pm – 3.15pm
To book, simply contact the school office on (01752) 201177 – we encourage early booking as demand for places is high and this helps us plan staffing and resources to provide the very best care for every child.
If you would like more information on Early Years funding please contact Millie Eaton or our Family Support Advisor, Kelly Powell on 01752 201177.

At Ernesettle Community School, our Nursery welcomes children from the age of 2, providing them with the very best start in their learning journey. Our experienced staff and qualified teachers work together to support every stage of each child’s development.
The well-being of our children is at the heart of everything we do, with a strong focus on nurture and building warm, caring and respectful relationships that help children thrive.
Pre School at Ernesettle Community School
From the age of 3, children at Ernesettle Community School make a seamless transition into our Pre-School, where they continue to be supported by experienced staff and qualified teachers who focus on preparing them for the next stage of their school journey.
In line with the Department for Education’s guidance on being “school ready,” we nurture independence, curiosity and social confidence, giving children the skills they need to thrive in Reception and beyond. Our Pre-School children integrate more deeply into school life, exploring wider areas of our school grounds and taking part in exciting trips and visits.
We place a strong emphasis on outdoor learning and active play, discouraging screen time in favour of fresh air, physical activity and real-world exploration – all proven to boost well-being, concentration and language development. Inside, our calming, neutral environment creates a sense of security and focus, helping every child to flourish in a happy and supportive setting.
