Lyfta at Our School

Lyfta is an award-winning immersive learning platform that allows children to explore real places, cultures and communities from around the world through powerful human stories. Using interactive 360° environments, soundscapes and short documentary films, pupils are able to step into the lives of real people and experience perspectives beyond their own community.

Through Lyfta, children develop empathy, curiosity and a deeper understanding of the world around them while strengthening important skills such as communication, reflection and global citizenship.

Our Weekly “Lyfta Time”

Every Monday afternoon, our whole school takes part in Lyfta Time which is a shared experience where we “travel” together to a different place across the globe.

During these sessions, children:

  • explore a new country or community
  • meet inspiring real people through storytelling and film
  • discuss values, culture and lived experiences
  • reflect on similarities and differences between communities

Lyfta Time has quickly become a highlight of the week. Children eagerly anticipate where their learning journey will take them next and many continue conversations at home, sharing their discoveries and reflections with families.

These weekly experiences help broaden pupils’ horizons and build cultural capital by exposing them to diverse perspectives and ways of life.

The Next Step: Lyfta Across the Curriculum

Having successfully embedded whole-school Lyfta Time, we are now beginning to integrate Lyfta Storyworlds more deeply into our curriculum.

Lyfta resources support learning across a wide range of subjects, including:

  • English
  • Geography
  • PSHE
  • Citizenship
  • RE
  • Sustainability and global learning

Teachers can use Storyworlds to enrich curriculum topics, deepen discussion and connect learning to real-world experiences.

Our aim is to ensure that children not only learn about the world but feel connected to it developing understanding, compassion and a strong sense of belonging.
